Bookkeeper.je is a bookkeeping practice based in St. Saviour, working with sole traders and limited companies across all twelve Jersey parishes. We keep the books, run the payroll, file the GST returns and produce the monthly numbers that let owners make decisions. We are Xero and QuickBooks certified and work in both daily.
Why a Jersey practice, not a mainland one
Jersey is a Crown Dependency with its own tax system, and the differences are not cosmetic. GST runs at 5%, not 20% VAT. Income tax is collected through ITIS at an effective rate, not PAYE codes. Social Security is the island's own scheme, not National Insurance. Companies file with the JFSC Companies Registry, not Companies House.
Mainland firms and mainland software get these subtly wrong, and the errors surface at exactly the wrong moment. We work with these rules every day.
What we do
- Monthly bookkeeping — transactions recorded, bank reconciled, records audit-ready.
- Payroll — payslips, ITIS, Social Security and the monthly Combined Employer Return.
- GST returns — prepared and filed to Revenue Jersey on schedule.
- Management accounts — a monthly picture of profit, cash and debtors.
- Annual accounts and tax — year-end tied off, personal returns prepared.
Certifications
We are certified in Xero and in QuickBooks, the two platforms most Jersey businesses run on. We use both every week on live client files, which is also why we train business owners on them — including the Jersey configuration that neither platform ships with.

How we work
Fixed monthly fees agreed upfront, so you know the cost before you commit. No hourly surprises and no year-end sting. Most clients are onboarded and running within five business days.
We are bookkeepers, not a regulated accountancy or tax advisory firm. For complex tax planning or formal advice we will tell you plainly and point you to a qualified Jersey accountant — clean books make that work cheaper anyway.
Our published guidance
We write the guides we wished existed when clients asked. Start with Jersey tax explained, the Jersey payroll guide, or the A–Z bookkeeping glossary.
